Coslayer, Panelist, Sausome Pix Admin, I present to you our pick for 2018’s Community Legend, Scott McVay!

Scott “Happy Sephy” McVay started watching anime WAY back in 1980. However, it wasn’t until 2007 before he started doing the convention scene. At the time, he was nowhere near the average age for the average cosplayer. But he still found joy in dressing up as anime and video game characters. A few months later, he was asked to help with a friend’s convention panel that was named “Cosplay Combat.” The rest, they say, is history. Scott has won numerous convention cosplay awards for his on-stage presentations, including Best Comedy Skit at Naka-kon 2009, Honorable Mention for Best Parody at Anime St. Louis 2010, and Beginner Runner-Up at Naka-kon 2017. Scott has also been hosting panels since 2008. Various panels he has done include “Sega Ages: A history of Sega,” “Demotivate Me!” (A presentation of funny fake meme posters), “The WACKY Japanese Commercial Panel,” and, of course, “Cosplay Combat.” In 2016, he adopted a new nickname of “Shaken” when he became an honorary member of EBA Comedy. He continues to assist the group with some of their panels as well.
